What We Do Join The Team FCSAR Team Jr Team Forms Fremont County
The Fremont County Search & Rescue Unit originated in the late 1960s as a group of civilians equipped with useful equipment and training. If someone failed to return home on time while hunting, fishing, working, or driving in the snow, a concerned party would notify a friend or family member. That person would then contact one of these individuals to assemble a search party. By 1972, these citizens formally established the Fremont County Search and Rescue Unit.
FCSAR volunteers hailed from diverse backgrounds and professions, including veterans, Civil Air Patrol members, firefighters, and mid-1970s EMTs. Some had snowmobiles, boats, trail bikes, and 4-wheel drive vehicles. In the late 1970s, the unit acquired its first radio repeater, significantly enhancing communications across much of the county.
