To successfully complete its rescue missions, the FCSAR requires a wide variety of equipment. Over the years, the unit has worked diligently to acquire and maintain mission-essential gear such as snowmobiles, snow bikes, a sno-cat, trailers, a mobile command center, chainsaws, dive equipment, avalanche gear, winter clothing, toboggans, rappelling gear, lake boats, riverboats, and other life-saving tools.

Radio communications are the primary tool used by FCSAR team members on rescue missions. Reliable, clear, and clean radio transmissions are essential for effective communication, serving as the lifeline between rescue teams in the field, FCSAR members at base camp, and other first-responder organizations. Radios are used to communicate positions, equipment and first aid needs, search progress, and coordinate rescue efforts. FCSAR has made significant investments in communication equipment, including handheld radios (400 and 700 MHz) and stationary, mobile, and simplex repeaters. Due to the ever-evolving nature of technology, FCSAR must continually update its communications equipment, an ongoing and costly necessity.

Donations are used to purchase new equipment, maintain current equipment, train and certify members in various search and rescue specialties, and cover monthly operating expenses. Unit members dedicate many hours to fundraising projects to support the Unit .
