Fremont County Search and Rescue is a group of volunteers dedicated to providing the public with emergency services. Members are volunteers who live, work, and recreate in Fremont County, Idaho. They are family, friends, neighbors, business owners, and professionals who share a common interest in helping people.
The Unit’s primary purpose is to search for, locate, rescue, and/or recover residents and visitors of Fremont county. FCSAR is committed to using all its resources to accomplish its objectives and ensure a successful outcome to each rescue mission. The Unit accomplishes these goals through a combination of expertise, equipment, experience, training, and technology.
Members have training and certifications in the following disciplines:
Avalanche Rescue/Recovery
Confined Space/Urban Rescue
EMT/1st Responders/First Aid Instructors
High/Low Angle Rescue
Ice Rescue
Level 1 Avalanche Certification
Scuba/Dive Rescue
Swift Water Rescue
Tracking
Additionally, the FCSAR endeavors to educate the public on how to recreate safely and what to do if you should become lost. For more information, please see our Safety Resources page. The FCSAR also provides the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office with extra manpower when requested.

Rescue Missions
FCSAR is always ready to respond when a call requesting their assistance is received.
The goal of every mission is to locate, stabilize and extract individuals in distress. The Unit members have the skills, experience, equipment, and training to successfully complete their rescue missions.
Rescue missions vary widely and include rescuing or recovering avalanche victims, snowmobilers, hunters, boaters, fishermen, hikers, campers, ATV/motorcyclists, photographers, swimmers, divers, river floaters/tubers, kayakers, rock climbers, spelunkers, horseback riders, and suburban searches.
Training
To ensure FCSAR members are prepared for any emergency the Unit conducts monthly training sessions. Topics include: first aid, highline, avalanche and GPS training, basic search techniques, knot-tying, and more.
Community Events
The FCSAR participates in numerous community events including:
Sponsoring and hosting annual Easter egg hunt for the special needs community
Participating in the annual parades in St. Anthony and Ashton
Provide support for the Mesa Falls Marathon & the Ashton American Dog Derby
Serve as flaggers for Intermountain Snocross Races in Ashton and Island Park
Cook breakfast at the St. Anthony’s Fishermen’s Breakfast
Support the Fremont County Fair
Support the Idaho State Search and Rescue
