FrFremont County Search and Rescue (FCSAR) is a dedicated volunteer organization committed to providing emergency services to the public. Its members are local volunteers who live, work, and recreate in Fremont County, Idaho. They are family, friends, neighbors, business owners, and professionals united by a common goal: helping people.

The primary purpose of FCSAR is to search for, locate, rescue, and/or recover residents and visitors of Fremont County. FCSAR is dedicated to utilizing all available resources to ensure successful outcomes for each rescue mission. The unit achieves these goals through a combination of expertise, equipment, experience, training, and technology.

Members possess training and certifications in various disciplines, including:

  • Avalanche Rescue/Recovery
  • Confined Space/Urban Rescue
  • EMT/1st Responders/First Aid Instructors
  • High/Low Angle Rescue
  • Ice Rescue
  • Level 1 Avalanche Certification
  • Scuba/Dive Rescue
  • Swift Water Rescue
  • Tracking

FCSAR is dedicated to educating the public on safe recreation practices and providing guidance on what to do if you become lost. For more information, please visit our Safety Resources page. Rescue Missions

FCSAR is always ready to respond when a call for assistance is received. The goal of every mission is to locate, stabilize, and extract individuals in distress. Unit members possess the skills, experience, equipment, and training needed to successfully complete their rescue missions.

Rescue missions vary widely and include rescuing or recovering avalanche victims, snowmobilers, hunters, boaters, fishermen, hikers, campers, ATV/motorcyclists, photographers, swimmers, divers, river floaters/tubers, kayakers, rock climbers, spelunkers, horseback riders, and suburban searches.

To ensure FCSAR members are prepared for any emergency, the unit conducts training sessions. Topics include first aid, highline, avalanche and GPS training, search techniques, tracking applications, knot-tying, and more.
